Where are they?

For those of you wanting to follow the wonderous adventures of our two heroes, this post will not satisfy your wishes, as it has been impossible for me to get ahold of the two pilgrims. What is going on? Have they decided to cut off the only interface between themselves and the rest of the world, our great civilization? Has the cell phone been lost at the bottom of one of their huge hiking back-packs? Are they simply in an area with no cellular network coverage? Is the battery out?? Are they in a land where electricity has not yet made its progress, where people only live by the light of candles? Have they gone astray in a dark and unforgivable land? All of these questions, I cannot answer at this point in time.
Let us just hope Josh and David are safe.
I am sorry if no news can be brought to you right now. I will try to contact them again in the next few days.

My hunch is that they have cut out of the walk and are basking in the sun of the Riviera. After a couple of days of hiking, they saw that they were really not up to it!!

Kathryn a dit…

That's great Larry! Thank you Matt for trying to keep us up to date.We really appreciate it! Yesterday we learned that we live on le chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle. We wondered why we saw so many people riding bikes ladened down with camping gear. The mystery is solved!

Jared a dit…

Yeah, I've been trying to call them too! Merci pour les updates matthieu. Maybe this whole medieval pligrimage thing is really getting to their heads and they are trying their hand at sending messages to us with via pigeons!

Vicki DeArmey a dit…

I think the whole thing was a hoax, a pre "poisson d'avril", the mega April Fools and we being the fools to believe they would or could ever do such a hike. Mathieu I wouldn't waste my time trying to contact them.. I mean, if they haven't answered by now you might just think they are laughing their ways all the way to the French Riviera, like larry said.

Vicki DeArmey a dit…

I am just kidding, of course!!
I am sure the cell phone thing, not being able to recharge or not in a receptive place is the real problem. Thanks for writing and giving us at least some idea of the reason for the silence.

I sense a bit a cynicism around here. You know David and Josh, they've already been through thick and thin together. They're well on their way to St James, I'm sure...

Kathryn, you're welcome. That's cool you live by the path. I didn't know people did the pilgrimage on their bikes. Do you see a lot of people walking by also?

Jared a dit…

i was telling david and josh before they left that i met this german guy here in washington whose uncle had done the same pilgrimage... but starting out in Berlin! It took him 4-5 months i think.

The funny thing about the story is that one time in alsace, when he was particularly sore and blistered, he decided to take a bus for the equivalent of one day's walk... but he was not paying attention, and he got on a bus going in the wrong direction! So, he took that as an omen and walked the rest of the way :)

Jenna a dit…

So right now, david and josh are most likely on a bus going in the wrong direction. ha :) that would be horrible..

I'm sure they're fine, 1600km's isn't that big of a deal! I do hope they turn the phones off though, i think it will make the whole trip more authentic and exciting, and they should be the ones who choose to contact us whenever they feel like it. Let's just keep them in our thoughts and prayers and just trust the one watching over them! Guidance! Marc.

I think mathieu is doing a great job keeping in touch and letting us get some news. David is the one who wanted to avoid always having to think about an internet cafe to try to get to write, so mathieu is their "spokesmen" and I think he doing them a favor. thanks mat and keep up the good work.
